Study of the interaction between the cannabinoid system and the serotonin system in a genetic model of depression due to CB1R deficiency and in a pharmacological depletion model of serotonin (5-HT) and maternal fetal alcoholism. Key processes such as neuronal plasticity, synaptic remodeling and adult neurogenesis are analyzed. We analyze the effects of the stimulation of 5HT1A receptors (buspirone or cannabidiol) and the blockade of CB2R in these processes. If the expected results are achieved, they could be used as a tool in the development of clinical trial protocols in depressive patients.
